Inter-Library Loans
The Library offers an inter-library loan service which provides access to material not held within our collections. We also supply and exchange material from our own internal stock between the Griffith campus libraries in Cork, Dublin and Limerick.
However, there are times when you are researching a particular topic that you will look to access material that is not held in the library or through our online subscriptions.
Before applying for an inter-library loan please check the library catalogue to make sure the item you require is not available in print or electronic form.
Once you are sure that the library does not hold the material you need, or a suitable alternative, you can request an inter-library loan. We will then arrange to borrow material you need from a partner institution library on your behalf.
Inter-library loan textbooks are not available to borrow but can be read at the library issue desk.
Under limited circumstances, you may visit Trinity College Library in Dublin if you need to access reference only material held there, which is not otherwise available to borrow. You will need a letter of introduction from Griffith Library.
You can also avail of the Pathways to Learning, Music PAL card. This card facilitates access to music information and materials available across a broad range of libraries and archives throughout the island of Ireland. Again, you will need an introduction through Griffith Library to access this.
